Ons team

A New Way was founded by adoptive parents. Our (small) organization is managed on a daily basis by professionals with extensive experience in organization management, communication, guidance, counseling, and pedagogical issues. Furthermore, several of our staff members are adoptive parents themselves.

Supervisory Board:

  • Ruud Olde (lawyer)
  • Daniël Klink (physician)
  • Dorien van Esdonk (accountant)

The Supervisory Board supervises the adoption procedures and monitors that everything takes place within the existing legal framework: Dutch adoption law (WOBKA), the Hague Adoption Convention, and the quality framework for adoption license holders.

Board of Directors:

The Board of Directors is responsible for the daily operations. The Board makes sure that the organization operates as efficiently as possible, to keep the procedure expenses on the Dutch side of the adoption procedure as low as possible. The Board of Directors is closely involved in the primary process: with the direct activities and also with the indirect activities.

Sanne Buursink: As Managing Director she is ultimately responsible for the daily operations of A New Way, for the strategic policy, the foreign contacts, and the adoption procedures (orientation, intake, guidance with an intended match, and the matches).

Patricia van der Burgt: As Director she is also responsible for the daily operations, for the strategic policy, the foreign contacts, the adoption procedures (orientation, intake, guidance with an intended match, and the matches), and she is ultimately responsible for the social-pedagogical policy (preparations for the intake, advice concerning placement proposals, and aftercare policy). Furthermore, she supervises the Foundation’s finances.

Organization:

Bo Merkus: As Office Coordinator she is the first-line of contact for prospective adoptive parents and adoptive parents.

Claire van den Heuvel: External advisor for communication affairs.

Kim Beek: Financial and administrative support.
